Pride: Okay or Not

Pride… We all have it.. to what level is what sets us different… History has given us great examples…  Mother Theresa… Certain umm political persons… At either end of the spectrum… Or so it seems…

Moses started out terrified when he was talking to a burning bush… But once it was time to leave Egypt I don’t recall hearing too much more about his brother – his voice – the only episode, I can really recall, had something about a golden calf… I think that over time it’s safe to say that Moses had pride but he didn’t flaunt it. He found his strength in God…

Jesus… Humility defined… Yet He had perfect pride… He knew the Scriptures and could refute the arguments that both Satan and the Pharisees or Sadducees tossed at Him…

Pride is not bad… Can we not be proud that we have an impressive God?

Ok here’s an example… You gather some friends for some hockey… Players from 2 streets… They brag and tease you… You’ve been the losing team for a long time… But you remain strong in knowing you can finally beat them… Sidney Crosby moved onto your street…

With God in your side… How can you lose? You know this in your soul, heart and mind…

Mind… The mental health issues… Where my brain was terrified of pretty much anything… at times when my brain chemistry was wrong and with the help of my psych, we worked to find a balance… until then it was truths I relied on truths… and honestly, a lot of days I didn’t and those were horrible days as Satan used my fear against me…

But is the truth that God loves me and that I matter to Him…

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him 1 Tim 1:12

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Tim 1:7

One truth I used was that if He loved me enough to count my hair then maybe things might turn around…

The question is: where is God in all of this?

Answer: right with me… Being a Christian doesn’t mean a life time of perfect health!

Think about something in your life that people can’t understand… They can sympathize but not empathize… It’s something that has to be experienced…

Now, how could you be a blessing in someones situation if you really, really don’t understand?

This where taking the time to figure out what helps you during the good, not so good and rotten days…

Take pride that you know God loves you and that He has your back.

And when you are doing well, go spread the good news to others with similar situations… You KNOW that God really is with you… He is proud of you…

God never wastes a hurt…
