“Chonda Pierce” What a Friend We Have in Jesus

With mental health issues it’s so easy to just spiral down… To listen to the voices which have entangled us since before we remember… To forget that we have an angelic army led by Jesus Himself…

This YouTube video contains quick spun off of hymns, that were and still are somewhat used. Hymns are the church songs that were used from (I’m guessing) 1750’s until the 1980’s when alternative Christian music started being used more and more.

Growing up in the church, around the same time as me hymn were it. The music may not be in your style of music… So just read the words…

What a Friend We Have in Jesus was written in 1855 and is still so very touching today… I personally would put it up with Amazing Grace as a must know hymn.

The hymn comes in towards the end of the video…

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
    Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
    Oh, what needless pain we bear,
    All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful,
    Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
    Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
    Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
    Thou wilt find a solace there.
  4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
    May we ever, Lord, be bringing
    All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
    There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
    Will be our sweet portion there

What things am I sins and grief do I carry around? How many times have I not turned to God to be in His arms so He can shield me?
