God and Handling Hard Times

Psalm 66:10-12

For you have tested us, O God; you have tried us as silver is tried. You brought us into the net; you placed a heavy burden on our backs. You let men ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, but you have brought us out to the place of abundance” (NLT)

I have used the saying that God doesn’t give me more than I can handle…

BUT IT IS WRONG!

If I am capable of handling every situation then I don’t need God…

Let me give it to you straight… I NEED GOD!

I know I cannot due my life all on my own. I simply cannot. My mental health issues? Ah yah… God please!

When I’m having a hard time and it’s a bad day you can know that I’m sending out text messages to my CR support friends and hubby… If I can think of it I have my Bible emergency kit on my smartphone… Verses that are special to me from other times I’ve spent with God… I put on the armor of God… I try to not use food as a comfort…

The real truth is… I need God when my life seems impossible for me to handle… That is when I get to step back and see how God will guide me. I know that He has a plan for me (Jer 29:11). I know that God uses everything for good. Even the hard times… I get to know God better when I let Him guide.

My favorite Christian singer is Kathy Triccoli… She sings a powerful song which really fits the blog posting…

How Would I Know (YouTube)

If it wasn’t for the times that I was down
If it wasn’t for the times that I was bound
For all the times that I wondered
How I would ever make it through
All of the times that I couldn’t see my way
And I had to turn to You

How would I know You could deliver
How would I know You could set free
If there had never been a battle
How would I know the victory
How would I know You could be faithful
To meet all of my needs
Lord I appreciate the hard times
Otherwise how would I know

I remember all the times I had to cry
And at the time all I could do was wonder why
Why would a God so kind and loving
Allow me to go through all this pain
If I could see into the future
Then I would know the joy I’d gain

But how would I know You could deliver
How would I know You could set free
If there had never been a battle
How would I know the victory
How would I know You could be faithful
To meet all of my needs
Lord I appreciate the hard times
Otherwise how would I know

How would I know that you could
Make a way out of no way
How would I know if I never had a need
Brother, I know what you’re goin’ through
Sister, I know ’cause I’ve been in your shoes
But I can truly say that I know what God can do

How would I know You could deliver
How would I know You could set free
If there had never been a battle
How would I know the victory
How would I know You could be faithful
To meet all of my needs
Lord I appreciate the hard times
Otherwise how would I know
Otherwise how would I know

How would I know You could set free
How would I know You deliver me
How would I know You could make a way
How would I know You could meet my needs
How would I know
How would I know
I wouldn’t have known
I wouldn’t have known
